Robonet Communications inc. ("we", "us") provides the mobile application "Romaji Drill" (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled in the App, in accordance with Japan's Act on the Protection of Personal Information and other applicable laws.
The App helps people practise Japanese romanisation (Kunrei-shiki and Hepburn). It is designed and offered for users aged 13 and over. There is no age restriction on use, so younger users may also use it, but the App is not offered as a service directed to children, and ads are not served under child-directed settings. Children under 13 should use the App under the supervision of a parent or guardian.
The App does not collect any personally identifiable information. There is no account or sign-in, and we never ask for your name, email address, password, date of birth, or phone number.
The following is stored only on your device and is never sent anywhere, including to us. Deleting the App deletes it.
The App uses Google AdMob to display ads. The only ads shown are full-screen ads at the end of a drill (Pick, Read or Write). The App shows no banner ads and no rewarded video ads.
As stated in section 2, the App is not offered as a child-directed service, so AdMob's child-directed settings are not applied and personalised ads may be served. Because school-age users are nonetheless expected, ad content is restricted to the "G" and "PG" content ratings.
To deliver ads, measure impressions, and prevent fraud, Google processes technical information such as your IP address, device type, OS version, and the number of ads shown. On Android, the advertising ID (AAID) is used to deliver and measure ads; you can reset it or opt out of personalised ads at any time in your device settings. On iOS, the App asks for App Tracking Transparency permission when you first open it. The advertising identifier (IDFA) is used for ad delivery and measurement only if you allow it. If you do not allow it, the IDFA is not collected and you are shown non-personalised ads. You can change this at any time in Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking.
For users in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, consent is obtained through Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) before ads are shown. You can change your choices at any time from Settings → Ad privacy settings inside the App.
See Google's Privacy Policy and how Google uses information in advertising for details.
Ad removal is offered as a one-time purchase through the App Store (Apple) or Google Play (Google), and the purchase state is managed using RevenueCat. Payment details such as card numbers are handled directly by Apple or Google; neither we nor RevenueCat hold them. RevenueCat receives an anonymous user ID and the purchase receipt, only as needed to manage entitlement.
The App has no server operated by us. The questions and the romanisation rules are bundled in the App itself, so studying works entirely offline. Your progress and your answers are never sent to us.
As stated above, we do not collect or hold any user information. Information processed by third parties (Google, RevenueCat, Apple) is used only to:
| Service | Purpose | Data shared | Country |
|---|---|---|---|
| RevenueCat | Managing purchase state | Anonymous user ID, purchase state | United States |
Google AdMob uses information not only on our behalf but also for its own purposes, such as ad delivery, fraud prevention, and improving its services. Under Japanese law this may amount to disclosure to a third party. As stated in section 3.2, personalised ads may be served; for users in the EEA and the UK, they are served only after consent has been obtained.
The recipients listed above are located outside Japan, primarily in the United States. We handle such transfers in accordance with the rules on transfers to third parties in foreign countries under Japanese law, after confirming that each recipient maintains an adequate protection framework.
We do not disclose information to third parties except with your consent, where required by law, or in connection with a business succession. We never sell information to third parties.
Because no user information is stored on our servers, the risk of a leak on our side is limited. Communication with the services above uses encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) provided by each service.
The App is aimed at users aged 13 and over, but its content includes romanisation taught in Japanese elementary schools, so younger users may use it. The App never asks for personally identifiable information such as a name, address, phone number, or date of birth.
To prevent a child from completing a purchase alone, please also use your device's purchase controls (Apple Screen Time, Google Play purchase authentication). If you prefer not to receive personalised ads, you can reset the advertising ID and opt out in your device settings.
Please send any questions or complaints about how information is handled in the App to dev@robonet-c.jp.
We may update this policy as needed. The updated policy takes effect when posted on this page. We will notify you in the App of any significant change.
