These Terms of Service (the "Terms") set out the conditions for using the mobile application "Japan Map Quiz" (the "App") provided by Robonet Communications inc. ("we", "us"). By using the App, users ("you"; for minors, this includes their parent or guardian) agree to these Terms.
Article 1 (Application)
These Terms apply to all matters relating to the use of the App between you and us. The App is intended primarily for users aged 13 and over. We do not restrict use by age, but minors should use the App with the consent of a parent or guardian, and in particular for the one-time purchase described in Article 6.
Article 2 (About the App)
- The App is a free study tool for learning the 47 prefectures of Japan. All study features, including Study Mode and Test Mode, are free.
- The App displays advertising: a banner at the bottom of the screen, a full-screen ad between screens, and a video ad you choose to watch (a rewarded ad). The one-time purchase described in Article 6 removes all of them.
- Watching a video ad to the end unlocks a retry of just the questions you missed. All study features remain available without watching it.
- Because the App is intended primarily for users aged 13 and over, ad content is restricted to the "T" (teen) rating or below. Where consent or a choice must be offered, a consent form and the operating system's tracking dialog are shown. See the Privacy Policy for the information involved.
- We may change, add to, or discontinue the App without prior notice.
Article 3 (Prohibited conduct)
You must not:
- violate laws or public order and morals;
- engage in conduct related to criminal activity;
- infringe the intellectual property, portrait, privacy, reputation, or other rights or interests of us or third parties;
- copy, modify, redistribute, or sell the map data, prefecture data, or other content in the App beyond the scope of using the App;
- interfere with the operation of the App;
- use the App other than as intended (including reverse engineering, decompiling, or disassembling); or
- engage in any other conduct we deem inappropriate.
Article 4 (Intellectual property)
Copyright and other intellectual property rights in the App, including its program, screen design, and study content, belong to us or to the rightful owners. Map data attribution is as set out in Article 9.
Article 5 (Operating environment)
- The study features work without an internet connection. Map data and prefecture data are bundled inside the App.
- An internet connection is required to display advertising and to make or restore the one-time purchase. Communication charges are your responsibility.
- We may specify supported environments (OS versions, devices) and are not responsible for operation in environments that do not meet them.
Article 6 (One-time purchase)
- We offer the ad-removal feature as a one-time (non-consumable) in-app purchase (the "Purchase").
- The price is the amount shown in the App Store (Apple) or Google Play (Google), displayed according to each store's conventions (local currency, tax treatment, etc.).
- The Purchase is not an auto-renewing subscription. Once purchased, no further charges occur.
- Purchase procedures and refunds are governed by Apple's or Google's terms. Please contact the store where you purchased for refund inquiries.
- After the Purchase, advertising is no longer displayed. There is no other difference in functionality.
- When changing devices, you can carry over the Purchase using each store's restore-purchases function.
- Please use your device's purchase restrictions (Apple Screen Time, Google Play purchase authentication) so that minors do not complete purchases on their own.
Article 7 (Suspension of the App)
- We may suspend or interrupt all or part of the App without prior notice if:
- we perform maintenance or updates;
- provision becomes difficult due to force majeure such as earthquake, lightning, fire, power failure, or natural disaster;
- computers or communication lines stop due to an accident; or
- we otherwise determine that provision is difficult.
- We are not liable for any disadvantage or damage suffered by you or a third party as a result of such suspension or interruption.
Article 8 (Disclaimer)
- The prefectural capitals, local specialties, famous places, areas, populations, and other study content in the App are reference material for study, compiled from publicly available information. We do not guarantee their accuracy or currency. For exam preparation, please also consult textbooks and primary sources.
- The map in the App is simplified for on-screen legibility, and Okinawa is drawn at a different position and scale. It does not accurately represent actual geography or positional relationships.
- We make no express or implied warranty that the App is free from defects in fact or in law (including defects in safety, reliability, accuracy, completeness, effectiveness, fitness for a particular purpose, or security, and including errors, bugs, or infringement).
- We are not liable for any damage arising from the App, except in cases of our willful misconduct or gross negligence. However, where the contract between you and us constitutes a consumer contract under Japan's Consumer Contract Act, this disclaimer does not apply; in that case, for our ordinary negligence (excluding gross negligence), we are liable within the scope of ordinarily foreseeable damage and, where the Purchase was made, up to the amount of that Purchase.
Article 9 (Map data attribution)
The map of Japan used in the App is derived from data published in "Global Map Japan" by the Geospatial Information Authority of Japan (GSI) (https://www.gsi.go.jp/kankyochiri/gm_jpn.html). That data is provided under the GSI Content Terms of Use.
Article 10 (Governing law and jurisdiction)
- These Terms are governed by the laws of Japan.
- Any dispute relating to the App shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the court having jurisdiction over the location of our head office as the court of first instance.
Article 11 (Changes to these Terms)
We may change these Terms without prior notice when we deem it necessary. The revised Terms take effect when posted on this page or otherwise announced by a method we consider appropriate.
