Privacy Policy — Japan Map Quiz

Robonet Communications inc. ("we", "us") provides the mobile application "Japan Map Quiz" (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled in the App, in accordance with Japan's Act on the Protection of Personal Information ("APPI") and other applicable laws.

1. Company information

  • Company: Robonet Communications inc.
  • Head office: Noda Building 204, 2-8 Shirasaki-cho, Kanoya, Kagoshima 893-0016, Japan
  • Tokyo office: 2F Dai-2 Onda Building, 2-47-6 Ikebukuro, Toshima-ku, Tokyo 171-0014, Japan
  • Phone: +81-994-45-6107
  • Representative: Yukio Nakakubo, President
  • Contact: dev@robonet-c.jp

2. Intended audience

The App is a study tool for learning the 47 prefectures of Japan. Its primary audience is people aged 13 and over (junior high school age and above, including adults), and the target audience declared in each app store is 13 and over.

We do not restrict use by age, so younger people may also use the App; in that case it should be used under the supervision of a parent or guardian (see section 7). The design of the App and its advertising configuration assume users aged 13 and over.

3. Information we collect

The App does not collect any personally identifiable information. There is no account or sign-in. We never ask for a name, email address, password, date of birth, or phone number.

3.1 Information stored only on your device

The following is stored only on your device and is never transmitted to us or anyone else. Deleting the App removes it.

  • Your best score and the number of quizzes played
  • Your language setting
  • Whether the ad-removal purchase has been made (a local cache)

3.2 Advertising

The App shows advertising through Google AdMob, in three forms:

  • A banner at the bottom of the screen (never while a test question is being answered)
  • A full-screen ad shown between screens
  • A video ad the user chooses to watch (a rewarded ad). Watching it to the end unlocks a retry of just the questions you missed. All study features remain available without watching it

As stated in section 2, because the App is intended for users aged 13 and over, we do not enable AdMob's Child-Directed Treatment or Under Age of Consent settings. Ad content is restricted to the "T" (teen) rating or below.

To serve and measure ads, Google may process:

  • Advertising identifiers (the Android advertising ID / AAID, or the iOS IDFA)
  • Technical information such as IP address, device type, and OS version
  • Measurement data such as ad impressions and clicks

This information may be used to serve advertising based on your interests (personalized advertising).

Consent. In regions where consent or a choice must be offered — the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and certain US states — we present Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) consent form on first launch. You can change your choices at any time from "Settings → Ad privacy settings" in the App (this item appears only in regions where the form is required).

Tracking on iOS. On iOS, we present the system App Tracking Transparency dialog before the advertising identifier (IDFA) is used. All features of the App remain available if you decline; non-personalized advertising is served instead.

See the Google Privacy Policy for details.

3.3 Purchases

Ad removal is offered as a one-time (non-consumable) in-app purchase through the App Store (Apple) or Google Play (Google), with purchase state managed via RevenueCat. Payment details such as credit card numbers are handled directly by Apple/Google; neither we nor RevenueCat hold them. RevenueCat receives an anonymous user ID and the purchase receipt, only as needed to manage entitlement.

3.4 No servers of our own

The App has no server operated by us. Map data and prefecture data are bundled inside the App, so no network request is required to use it. Your quiz answers and usage are never sent to us.

4. Purpose of use

As stated in section 3, we do not collect or hold user information. Information processed by third parties (Google, RevenueCat, Apple) is limited to the following purposes:

  1. Serving advertising (under child-directed settings)
  2. Managing the one-time ad-removal purchase, so that it can be restored on a new device

5. Sharing with third parties and cross-border transfers

5.1 Processors

Service Purpose Scope of information Country
RevenueCat Purchase state management Anonymous user ID, purchase state United States

5.2 Third-party provision (Google AdMob)

Google AdMob uses information not only on our behalf but also for Google's own purposes, such as ad delivery, fraud prevention, and service improvement. This may constitute "provision to a third party" under the APPI. As described in section 3.2, the App serves ads configured for users aged 13 and over, and information including advertising identifiers may be used for personalized advertising. In regions where consent or a choice must be offered, you decide through the UMP consent form and the iOS tracking dialog.

5.3 Cross-border transfers

The parties above are located outside Japan (primarily in the United States). We handle such transfers in accordance with the APPI's rules on provision to third parties in foreign countries, after confirming that they maintain appropriate protection frameworks. See:

5.4 Other disclosures

We do not provide information to third parties except:

  • with the user's consent;
  • where required by law; or
  • in connection with a business succession.

We never sell information in exchange for money or other consideration.

6. Security

Because the App does not store user information on our servers, the risk of a leak on our side is limited. Communication with the parties above uses the encrypted (HTTPS/TLS) connections those services provide.

7. Younger users, parents and guardians

The primary audience of the App is 13 and over, but we do not restrict use by age. In every case, the App never asks for a name, address, phone number, date of birth, or any other personally identifiable information.

That said, the App serves advertising configured for users aged 13 and over. This includes full-screen and video ads, and personalized advertising where consent has been given. If a child under 13 uses the App, please do so under the supervision of a parent or guardian.

If you would rather not see advertising, the App offers a one-time in-app purchase that removes it. After purchase, no banner, full-screen, or video advertising is shown.

8. Inquiries and complaints

Please direct any questions or complaints about how information is handled in the App to dev@robonet-c.jp.

9. Map data attribution

The map of Japan used in the App is derived from data published in "Global Map Japan" by the Geospatial Information Authority of Japan (GSI) (https://www.gsi.go.jp/kankyochiri/gm_jpn.html). That data is provided under the GSI Content Terms of Use.

10. Changes to this policy

We may revise this policy as needed. The revised policy takes effect when posted on this page. We will notify users within the App of significant changes.
